After about 15 minutes, I moved them to the medium heat area and add the steaks to the hottest part to get a nice crust on the outside. Six minutes each side, then moved to the cooler side to finish.
When the veggies were done, the steaks went back on just to heat up, and then we ate.
By the way, this meal would have easily cost $35 a person at a restaurant, if not more. The asparagus would have been over cooked, the potatoes nasty bakers with whipped butter-ish stuff, and it would have had day old rolls to go with it that I couldn't have eaten anyway. The service would be rushed, the room crowded and loud. and we would park a half mile from the restaurant because it's prime time on Saturday. Plus, the odds of my steak being perfectly cooked are slim to none. Doing it myself, the whole thing cost under $23, and I got to eat in my jammies. Yeah, life is good.
