just a little of the bounty that I found at the market today. organic gala apples, red pears, valencia oranges, gorgeous ripe avocados, carnival squash (sort of like if acorn squash and butternut squash had a baby), and fresh made tortillas. oh, and I couldn't pass up the beautiful mums, thought I do feel guilty about bringing anything living home, as it's like sending the innocent to death row. I know that the produce during the spring and summer are incredible, but there's something about autumn that makes me want to cook more. I love slow simmered soups and stews, the hardier squashes, locally grown apples and the cider that's made from them... I guess it's because I'm an October baby, but this is my favorite time of year.
